How do I make the Tiny Desk AI video?
Upload one clear photo above, tick the consent box and sign in with Google. You get a free preview of yourself behind the Tiny Desk mic, then unlock the 12-second video. Tiny Desk AI App replaces the lead singer with you, keeps the real performance sound, and you download the MP4 when it is ready.
Step-by-step Tiny Desk AI tutorialWhat is the Tiny Desk "Outstanding" trend?
It started with Charlie Wilson's NPR Music Tiny Desk concert, where he closed the set with "Outstanding". In October 2026 an AI parody that turned the band into college football teams went viral on TikTok, and people began putting themselves, friends, and whole teams into the performance.
Where the Tiny Desk AI meme comes fromWhat song is in the Tiny Desk AI video?
"Outstanding", the 1982 hit by The Gap Band, the funk band Charlie Wilson fronted with his brothers. In the clip Charlie Wilson performs it live at his Tiny Desk concert. Your video keeps that performance sound; the music belongs to its rights holders.
The Outstanding song explainedCan I put my friends or my team in it?
Yes, as long as every person is an adult who agreed. Each video replaces the lead singer with one person, so make one video per friend or player and stitch them together in CapCut or TikTok. The 6-video pack is made for this.
Put your team in the Tiny Desk concertHow long does it take?
The free preview takes about a minute. The full video usually takes 4–6 minutes, sometimes a little longer when many people are generating. You can close the page; we email you when it is ready and it waits in My videos.
How much does it cost?
$7.90 for 1 HD video, $18.90 for 3 HD videos or $28.90 for 6 HD videos, paid once with no subscription. Every pack renders in HD 720p, and bigger packs cost less per video. If a render fails, the video is returned automatically. If you are not happy with a finished video, email yaohongan20@qq.com and we refund you.
Is this official?
No. Tiny Desk AI App is an unofficial fan tool. It is not affiliated with NPR, NPR Music, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson, The Gap Band or their record labels.
Are my photos stored?
Uploads are private, used only to make your video and deleted automatically 7 days after upload. Finished videos are kept for 30 days after they finish. We never use your photos to train AI. Deleting your account removes everything right away.
Is there a free Tiny Desk AI video maker?
Every tool that renders a full AI video charges for it, because each render costs real GPU time. Free options are CapCut templates (you edit it yourself) and free previews. Tiny Desk AI App gives every account one free preview frame before you pay.
Free ways to make itDo I need an account?
You sign in with Google to get your free preview and to keep your videos in one place. There is no password to create and no subscription.
Is it the real Tiny Desk performance and the original song?
Yes. Your video is built on a close-up from Charlie Wilson's real "Outstanding" Tiny Desk performance and keeps its original sound; the AI only replaces the singer with you. Most other tools generate a new scene with AI music. Tiny Desk AI App is not affiliated with NPR.
Can I make one of a coach, athlete or celebrity like the viral videos?
No. We only allow photos of yourself or adults who agreed to it. Photos of public figures, celebrities, coaches and athletes you do not know personally are not allowed.
Is there a watermark?
Only on the free preview frame. The finished video is a clean vertical MP4 with no watermark. Keep the AI label on when you post it.
Which Tiny Desk AI generator is best?
Most Tiny Desk AI tools generate a brand-new desk-concert scene with AI music. Tiny Desk AI App instead puts you into the real performance close-up and keeps its sound. Compare the price per finished video and what you hear: Tiny Desk AI App costs $7.90 for 1 HD video, $18.90 for 3 HD videos or $28.90 for 6 HD videos, with a free preview before you pay.
Tiny Desk AI tools comparedCan I use someone else’s photo?
Only an adult who gave you permission, and never photos of minors, celebrities or public figures. Do not use the video to impersonate or deceive anyone. Accounts that break this rule are closed.
Which AI model do you use?
Videos are made with Wan 2.2 Animate (Alibaba) through Kie.ai, which replaces the singer in the clip with the person in your photo. Every video is labeled as AI-generated.
Is this an app I have to install?
No. Tiny Desk AI App runs in the browser on iPhone, Android and desktop. Nothing to install.
